Birthed in crisis, born for a purpose.

Three consecutive mornings during the Summer of 2021, Matthew Hugg woke to a single thought in his mind, " Build a table".  If you believe in God, you might say he had a divine prompting. And so after the third day, he gathered his kids together, they agreed on a design, and they built a table.

Like so many others, Matt, his wife Jess, and their five children had personally endured the ravages of  COVID with two rounds of illness that swept through their family.  In addition to experiencing the illness first-hand and the corresponding isolation, quarantines, lock-downs, fear, and anxiety of the season; Matt experienced an unexpected job loss and a host of other challenges in the wake of the pandemic.

They rallied around their dining table.  Some days they cried together as they prayed for miracles.  Other days they would play cards and learn new crafts.  In evenings they would often put on music, dust off an old board games, and laugh together as they played. They shared meals together, laughed, and connected.  And in this most unlikely season, they rediscovered to what really matters.

Somewhere along the way they began to dream of ways they might be able to spark hope in others through a simple, symbolic, object, a table.  They imagined how something as simple as a beautiful table could serve as a humble, yet resolute declaration that despite the swirling and chaotic challenges of life, we can still choose to make space for ourselves, and others to sit, to eat, to re-center and renew our strength.

And maybe if we can do that, then perhaps we could go a step further and invite others into that sacred space and find connection.  Perhaps there is a way to be still, and find peace in the storm after all?  Perhaps it could be simple like that?

The dreams began to manifest in lovingly handcrafted tables, chairs, and other unique and beautiful pieces they sold locally where they live in Northern California.  Before long, they opened an Etsy store and within a few short months they were fully booked with orders from California to Georgia and New Mexico to New Jersey.

The tables are simple, elegant, inviting, warm, and inclusive.  But they're just tables.  It's the intentional moments you spend gathered around them with people you love that make them special.  Our dream for you is that as you gather around a Feast table, you rediscover the simple beauty of human connection.

Peace, Joy, and Unquenchable Hope to You and Yours,

The Hugg Family

Built by Creative Artisans & Apprentices

Every Feast table is made with love and attention to detail by a family of creatives lead by Matt Hugg and his wife Jess.  As a creative craftsman, Matt was delighted when his children temporarily put down their screens and asked if they could pick up torches and hammers to learn the ways of artisan woodworking, table building, and entrepreneurship.  The hours spent in the shop designing and creating each unique Feast table have yielded a well-earned financial reward for his children and the memories they've made in the process are priceless.  Along the way Jess has taught and empowered them to take care of customers in a way that reveals what true servant-hearted hospitality and attentiveness to others looks like.  We pray that you'll enjoy creating memories around your Feast table as much as we enjoyed building it for you.
